Preschool Program: Age 2 ½ to 4 yrs
Accommodating the large gap, the teachers work at developing a program that can challenge the older and give starting points for the younger. Planning for this age involves all areas such as group, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, language and Dramatic play.
Children participate in large group and small group at which time teachers teach a lesson. Children are encouraged to participate in order for teachers to observe the development milestones of each child. With this information the teacher is able to compile this information onto the IPP (Individual Programming Planning). This will aide the teachers in planning for their class and children.
During floor time the children have an abundance of opportunities to build with blocks, trains, puzzles etc and engage in cooperative play.
Outdoors is always the highlight for this age group and a lot of energy is spent there on the climber, tricycles, shuffleboard, built in hopscotch plus planned activities.
